The American pharmaceutical company Vivunt Pharma is investing 19.5 million euros in the construction of a factory in the León municipality of Villadangos del Páramo. The factory will manufacture high-potency oncological drugs in liquid and lyophilized vials. The company expects to create 60 qualified jobs when the plant is at full capacity.
The decision to locate the factory in León was made after the company explored several options in different autonomous communities. The León municipality was chosen due to its infrastructure, the presence of a consolidated pharmaceutical industry, and the support of the Junta de Castilla y León.
The company expects to start manufacturing the first batches of drugs in 2024. The factory will produce drugs for the Spanish and European markets. There are 10 companies in the sector in the province, 40% of the 25 that exist in the Community.
